Late Night Flowers 56x72cm watercolour & gouache on deckle edge 300gsm paper
A glorious riot of gouache flowers created over a mass of watercolour flowers… a spontaneous late night response to staring at the original framed artwork for 2yrs and knowing it wasn’t yet quite right!
Painted on a chilly December night, the cool palette colours reflect the season, the mood and a move away from my typical warm autumnal hues.
As it evolved, I knew this was going to be one I would really love. Hours passed, it was dark, there was no one to bother me, not even the puppies needed me… eventually I looked at the clock and it was 1:30am. First thing in the morning when I saw it in a different light, my goodness it made me happy.
What it needs now is beautiful float framing so that the lovely deckle edges of the paper can be seen. It’s a full Imperial sized sheet of Saunders Waterford 300gsm cold pressed watercolour paper.. the combination is gorgeous!
