Feedback from '2 day Contemporary Still Life Course'
at Yardley Arts, Northamptonshire, May 2024
More than happy to give you feedback on Sally Ellis’s art course.
The course was excellent. From Sally’s warm welcome as soon as we arrived right through the whole two day session.
It was really inspiring to have someone so knowledgeable & totally into their art to guide us through her process step by step whilst allowing individual creativity to flourish. Sally was real, honest, interesting & and a very skilful tutor. She kept her level high throughout the whole two days & hopefully gained satisfaction in the work everyone produced from her expert guidance. She talked us through her process stage by stage in a relaxed but informative manner & gave individual tuition & advice where needed. Many examples of her artwork were on display to inspire us & give us a heads up for our eventual direction of travel.
Whilst initially the course price was higher than I would usually pay, the inclusion of individual material packs as well as the provision of a wide array of other high brand materials available for our use along with the very high-quality tuition more than offset the outlay. Definitely good value for money on all fronts.
The provision of catering was a real bonus & the food was delicious. We were able to concentrate on creating art & eat at a time to suit within our individual process.
Overall an excellent experience & a course that I feel I can build on going forwards with my own art. I would definitely recommend a course with Sally & would be very happy to have an opportunity to create art with her expert tuition & enthusiasm again. Great to have an artist demonstrate different methods of producing art.
Big thankyou to Sally & Yardley Arts.
Best wishes, Gill Denbigh

Dear Sally
Where to begin to thank you for this weekend? From the moment that you greeted me with a hug, to our hug goodbye, I went on the most amazing journey with you. You challenged me, you inspired me, you exhausted me, you picked me up when I was flagging and you allowed me an insight into your world. What a fantastic way to spend a weekend and I feel very privileged to have been a part of it all. Now I want to continue with it all.
I know that you are in the middle of an extremely busy time, so please don't feel an urgency to reply to this email. However, when you do have a moment, please could you supply me with a list of the essentials that I need to carry on with all the loveliness that I have now started.
I wish you all the best with The Potter and The Painter adventure and thank you for so much.
With all my bestest of wishes
Hilary
Thank you so much for another fab session. You are teaching us all to pull the magic from the paintings. What a sorcerer you are. I’m loving it!
I was so happy with your message on my painting it means so much to me. What a generous lady you are. I can feel your warmth everywhere and now it’s written.
I've just completed Sally's 4 week intro to watercolour course. I've absolutely loved my weekly class, Sally opens up the heart of her home to those visiting. Lessons are held in her studio, where you are surrounded by all her lovely pieces of work, there is an abundance of inspiration! Her instruction is more of an informative chat, encouraging you to find your own style. She's given me the confidence to carry on at home, embrace the chaos of painting with my young kids, and re-igniting a very long hidden love of creating. Thank you Sally!
Sally’s art is truly unique
Stunning pieces, capturing nature in lush layers and jewel colours, a real feast for the eyes
I urge you to treat yourself and take a look at her work, the studio is like an Aladdins cave full of the most irresistible art
Thank you so much for our first four starter classes. I hope you could tell that I enjoyed them Immensely. Your whole process was a revelation and I am very much looking forward to continuing.
Lovely to meet you all, and thanks for the fab course. Inspired to continue.
I love the course and being a part of such a lovely group has been the icing on the cake. Looking forward to starting a new piece next week. Just got to finish buffing this one first .
It’s fun, relaxing, almost mindful. A lovely way to make new friends and you come away from it with art. Yes, actual art that you want to put on your wall. It’s just wonderful what you can create with the insight and patience of the right teacher. Sally Ellis, you are literally an inspiration .
Paint, play and discover. You have liberated me from old preconceived restrictions and opened a world of fun and possibilities. Every blank canvas is a magical, exciting adventure into the unknown. No more joyless art. I am forever changed and changing.
This is the second painting that has emerged from my session that I did with Sally Ellis back at the beginning of Feb. I’m loving painting without an end goal and not caring If anybody else likes it I love it and that’s all that matters. My confidence is returning, and my joy of painting. I would do anything to avoid sitting at my art table with all the excuses, but now, little by little, I want to sit I want to play with no agenda other than to explore. Have fun and see what happens, as Sally says it’s just paint if you don’t like it change it.
