3-Day Workshops at
The Old Meeting House Studio
Join me for three days of painting, totally immersed, with no interruptions.
My teaching is intuitive and spontaneous. There’s no step-by-step method, no copying, and no expectation of what your work “should” look like. The days unfold through doing, experimenting, getting stuck, getting unstuck, and seeing what happens when you allow it.
The workshops are now held at The Old Meeting House Studio, right on the High Street in Bewdley. It’s a beautiful, large Victorian meeting room with level access straight from the street, an easy loo, a huge kitchen, and a deck where we often eat lunch in the sunshine (or watch the birds, the fish, or even the steam trains trundle by).
Places are limited to 6. All materials are provided, along with a seasonal vegetarian lunch each day, plus tea, coffee, cake, and prosecco mid-afternoon.
The Long Weekender
3-days Abstract Familiarity
£395 per person,
6 places
Includes all materials + seasonal veggie lunch + cake + prosecco
This is the heart of what I teach. It’s still life, but better. Simple, familiar starting points, pushed and pulled into something more abstract, more personal, and far more visually interesting.
We’ll focus on process, composition and colour, and the small decisions that make a painting work (or not). I don’t teach a linear method, and I never know what anyone will make, including me. That’s the point. You turn up, you do the work, and the stories evolve.
This workshop suits a mix of experience levels. You don’t need a plan or prior confidence. Beginners are supported to paint in a more forgiving way and often leave wondering why they ever thought they “couldn’t paint”. Returners usually leave marvelling at what they’ve been missing.

"A fabulous, energetic workshop with Sally. She is an extremely generous and helpful teacher, with the utmost patience.
Thank you, Sally. I really enjoyed it so much I even asked if I could take you home with me!”

Go Large!
3-Day large format workshop for painters with some experience
£395 per person,
6 places
Includes all materials, seasonal veggie lunch, cake & prosecco
Go Large is for painters who already have a bit of confidence with acrylics and want to shake things up on a bigger board, with bolder marks, more risk, and more reward.
This isn’t just still life. The aim is to explore how these techniques can influence your own style and process, whatever you’re drawn to. My teaching is still rooted in composition and colour, and in looking honestly at what makes a painting work, but the “subject” is secondary. It’s about how you build a painting, how you edit, resolve and learn more control.
Developing one large 30x30 inch cradled wooden board, expect three days of working bravely, daring to go further with no planning and no expectation. No preciousness. Lots of doing, responding, adjusting, scraping back, and refining.

“What a totally fabulous three days, resulting in a big painting I am so proud of, thanks to your brilliant direction and top tips, Sally.
Nothing better for the soul than sharing laughs, life experience and creative passions with fabulous people, and being treated to the most incredible fresh, home-cooked lunches and cakes, and a glass or two of fizz. The best gift I’ve given myself in a while. Loved it all. I will be back for more.” Lucy. Jan 2026

"Sally is such a warm and friendly person and puts you at ease from the moment you walk into the studio.
When I felt stuck and overwhelmed with what to do next, Sally stepped in with lots of tips, help and gentle suggestions that completely restored my confidence. I left with one massive smile.
I loved the amazing tea from The Bewdley Tea Company and the nibbles too. There was lots of laughter, and it was such a joy meeting a really lovely bunch of like-minded people.
A huge success and highly recommended. Thank you!” 🥰
