The Bowl. 30x30cm Acrylic on MDF framed in St Ives white

£135.00Price

Layers of colour, history, and sentiment — celebrating a simple bowl that continues to shape my work.

Years ago, my middle child made me a small footed bowl. Beautiful in its unevenness and simplicity, it’s one of those treasures you keep forever. That little bowl has crept into my paintings time and again, uninvited but insistent, always appearing in my head and then on the board.

More recently, one of the potters I show at Fig Tin created the most gorgeous bowl, inspired by my paintings. I love that so much has come from that original little gift. It now sits proudly in the gallery window with a red sticker, because I can’t part with it.

This painting was created in my usual limited palette, carrying the history of multiple demos, layers, and scraping. It’s a celebration of something so simple, yet utterly enduring.
