There's something very emotive about old chairs, the kind your parents or grandparents had, ones you can't bear to give away. The ones that outlive the people who sat in them. And an empty chair is where you'd sit someone down to talk, and it's somewhere you go in your head when you can't anymore. The conversations you'd still like to have. The things you'd still like to say.
 
I didn't set out to paint chairs; I didn't know I needed to paint them either... funny how art can become the one thing that heals you.
