What Do You See? Ink and acrylic on 56x156cm gessoed heavy lining paper

Back in the 80s, as a young student nurse, I learned a poem, Crabbit Old Woman by Phyllis McCormack. I've never forgotten it, and now, as my mother's brutal decline into dementia, I am screaming inside for people to see her, who she was. 
 
These two,  seen, upright and adored, dignity intact; this is who they are now, yes, but underneath, their stories are there if you listen...
